In <a href='/bible/holy-bible/Job-2.html#1'>Job 2: 1-10</a>, Job is afflicted with sores from Satan and is scraping them off with a broken piece of pottery when his wife asks, '<span class='bible'>Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.</span>' To which Job replied, '<span class='bible'>What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?</span>' By Georges de La Tour (circa 1625-1650).

Job is a poetic book which seeks to answer "Why do the righteous suffer?" It presents a variety of perspectives to deal with a complex topic of suffering.

Job is among the Books of Wisdom which includes Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon (Song of Songs).
