Corinthians

A 17th century portrait shows Alessandro Valignano, an Italian missionary who introduced Christianity to Japan and other parts of Asia, holding a book that says: PRO CHRISTO LEGATIONE FUNGIMUR - 'We are ambassadors for Christ' (2 Corinthians 5:20). The 'IHS' stands for 'Jesus' using the first three letters in Latin for IHSOUS which is derived from the Greek 'Christos'.

Apostle Paul's second letter to the people of Corinth is a letter of reconciliation and addresses further concerns the church has.

Second Corinthians begins with greetings (1:1-11). Paul then defends his apostleship and affirms affection for the Corinthians (1:12–7:16). Instructions for collecting for the poor in the Jerusalem church are given (8:1–9:15). Finally, further defense of his apostleship (10:1–13:10) and closing greetings (13:11-13).
