“Be strong and courageous”

About this Quote

In this verse Moses is 120 years old and is giving a speech to the Israelites. They are east of the Jordan river preparing to enter the Promised Land. They have been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years preparing for this moment.

Moses says God has told him “You shall not go over this Jordan.” So this is one of the last chances Moses has to speak to and encourage the Israelites to conquer the Promised Land. He assures them that God will be with them as they enter their homeland and fight off the nations settled there. Building the courage in this way proves effective. Soon the Israelites will rule the Promised Land.
